What is Microblading? - Microblading is a treatment for eyebrows. It is a semi-permanent type of tattoo but without the side effects of a full tattoo...
Microblading is applied using a microblading tool which implants ink superficially into the skin. It is applied in hair strokes which has the effect of enhancing or replacing your natural eyebrows with ink strokes which look real and do not wash or wipe off. It is a type of tattooing because the microblade scratches the skin to implant the ink, but because it does not fully penetrate the skin the effect is semi-permanent. However it is long-lasting with an expected lifespan of at least 18 months. It then begins to fade and will disappear altogether after 3 to 4 years.
Artistry  -  Because microblading is applied using ‘strokes’ to your eyebrows there is an important element of artistry to its application...
The therapist will draw on your eyebrows to show you exactly what shape and depth they will have. The shape and design of your brows can be ‘tweaked’ to suit your face.  Once the eyebrows are drawn on your face look at the carefully, make a few expressions and even get the therapist to photo them from each side to make sure that you like them. Only then should the microblading work commence.
Therapist  -  At golds Beauty, Marie, Laura and Jade are fully trained and qualified to apply microblading. They are also each registered and approved by North Devon Council (Environment) to carry out these treatments. The salon itself is also approved and authorised to carry out these treatments...
But for a microblading therapist to be qualified is not enough in itself. Each of our therapists wants to be the best in the business and will go the extra mile to satisfy each client. Hygiene is important as is skill and safety, but most important is to ensure that every set of microbladed brows are a work of art and look fabulous.
Does it hurt?  -Because microblading involves drawing a blade over the skin for each stroke it will feel like being continually scratched...
For some this will be an irritant but could only be described as mild pain. (If it worries you ask the therapist to apply one stroke during consultation so that you will feel what its like.
SideEffects  - Because each micoblade stroke scratches the skin there will be scabbing after a day or two which will last for up to a week...
These scabs should not be picked but allowed to clear naturally. You will also be asked not to let your eyebrows get wet or sweaty for a week to allow the scabs to heal. Some clients may experience itching, redness or mild swelling during the first week which Vaselene can alleviate. Brows will look darker at first but the colour will fade by about 30% within a week. Aftercare ointment will be provided at the treatment session. This scabbing and healing time can cause distress to some clients who can feel that they have made a huge mistake and that their brows will look awful. But don’t worry as you can rest assured that once they have gone your new eyebrows will look fantastic. There are no long lasting side effects.
How long does the treatment take?  - The first consultation (which is free) will take up to 30 minutes.    The main application itself takes 2 to 2.5 hours...
You then have to return to the salon after 4 to 6 weeks for a touch-up session. This session will normally take about an hour. This follow-up session (which is included in the treatment price) is important to ensure that you get the full effect of microblading. Any strokes which were missed or where the ink pigment did not take will be re-done and any improvements required to the shaping can be done. The therapist may go over original strokes to darken them or layer thinner strokes in between to help build up sparse brows.
How much does it cost?  - The cost of the microblading treatment is £295...
A deposit of £95 is required when the appointment to have microblading is made, and the balance of £200 is payable at the main appointment when the treatment is done. The fee includes the follow-up session after 4 weeks.
When will I need it done again?  - Your microblading will last for at least 18 months...
Depending on your skin and your eyebrow colour it may last for up to 3 years. We would recommend that at any time after 18 months you call in to the salon for a free consultation and between you and the therapist you can decide when they should be done again. It may be that a short session to put in a number of microblading strokes will be all that is needed to give them a new lease of life.
Who can have microblading?  - People of all ages can have microblading...
If you have thin blood or are on blood thinning medication or suffer from any blood disorder you will not be able to have microblading treatment. If you are pregnant or breast feeding, undergoing treatment for cancer, heart condition or high blood pressure you may not be able to microblading treatment. Consult with the salon and they will look into your suitability for treatment.
